May’s Moments and Messiness

(a reality TV quick-take)

There were a lot of moments, messy and otherwise, that were had this month in the world of reality TV. And to kick things off we have the return of the Real Housewives of Atlanta. A return that sparked a lot of questions from myself. Namely:

Why is Marlo sporting kettlebell earrings?

Why is Kandi not busting out this look every day?

Why does Sheree think that her website’s constant crashes = breaking the internet?

Why does Drew think “business casual” is suitable attire for rock climbing?

Why does Kenya have such a cutie-patootie for a daughter? LOOK AT HER.

Why is Sanya? (…still on the show/sucking the life out of every scene/talking – take your pick)

Now let’s take a little hop over to the Vanderpump Rules reunion, where #Scandoval, (aka, Tom Sandoval getting caught cheating on longtime love Ariana with her close friend Raquel) has redefined “messy” for a whole generation of reality show watchers.

In this case though, it turns out the messiest of them all may very well be LaLa and James, who waste no time in screeching their way up into the saddles of their moralistic high horses, berating Tom and Raquel in every way, shape, and form, even though it was revealed earlier this season that, while he was with Raquel, James cheated on her by sleeping with LaLa.

So isn’t that a little bit like the pot calling the kettle black? Not according to this dynamic duo. You see, they can still berate Tom and Raquel for cheating on Ariana even though they are cheaters themselves because of the following reasoning:

LaLa: “It’s not the same, because I was not Raquel’s best friend” (Got it. If you have no feelings about the woman being cheated on, then it’s a-ok to be the one her boyfriend is boning on the side. And you’re also a sociopath).

James: “I’m currently in a committed relationship with someone I truly care about” (Got it. All previous transgressions, cheating and otherwise, are expunged from the record as soon as you are with someone you care about. Until you cheat on them, like you did when you were with Raquel, who was also someone you truly cared about — at least enough to get engaged to).

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to “side” with Tom and Raquel here, I’m just pointing out that out of everyone at the reunion, the two least deserving to be passing judgement on them are the two who are most loudly making their voices heard.

Okay let’s wrap up this little jaunt with something a little lighter…but still a bit saucy. Over on Top Chef World All-Stars, a guest judge/jelly-mold master was introduced with a quick montage which included this, rather suggestive shot:

*ahem* Delicious.
